D'Gustty joins Yo Compro Local
Our stores open their shelves to regional entrepreneurs through the initiative run by Sercotec.
D'Gustty is joining Yo Compro Local. It is not a change of course: it is the formal name for something we were already doing, because much of what sits in our windows comes out of small workshops and kitchens.
Yo Compro Local is an initiative run by Sercotec through its Business Development Centers. It invites established shops to open their shelves to entrepreneurs from their own region, adding them to their offer and improving their sales, positioning and visibility. Member shops display the seal in their window, which is how customers recognise who takes part.
The premise is short: shorten the chain between the person who makes something and the person who buys it. Everything else follows from that — a direct benefit for the community, less transport and less environmental impact, fair trade, and productive ties inside a single region.
To take part, a business must be formally registered, hold current permits and have the real production capacity to supply a retail point. That is no small matter, and it is exactly what the Business Development Centers help to sort out.
What D'Gustty brings is its location. Our stores are in airports, where a product meets someone who is about to travel: a jar that leaves a workshop in the region ends up in a suitcase bound for another country, carrying the name of whoever made it.
